Micallef Rocks Gnejna Hillclimb
Island Car Club's 3rd round of 2016/17 championship kicked off at Gnejna. The weather was warm and skies were clear with a light sea breeze.
Once all race officials were in place and all safety officers and equipment where ready, the guest classes started their engines and the race was declared to be started.
Mark Micallef in his Avon Tyres Radical Pro Sport once again took honours for fastest over all , clocking an impressive time of 35.193 shaving over a second off his 1st timed run.
Keith Camilleri, driving his reliably quick Radical Fracht Malta followed closely, finishing 2nd, with an equally impressive time of 35.394 and in 3rd place Zach Zammit in his Empire Evo Urban Jungle stopping the clock at 36.043
Didier Bugeja was the star of the day winning multiple categories. Didier drove his mighty Snow White Meat and Poultry Peugeot 106 faultlessly to clock the fastest front wheel drive and fastest saloon whilst winning his class in the process with a time of 41.313 followed by his brother Roswell Bugeja in his grp 3 Peugeot 205.
Teddy Aquilina too had a great day driving his Cosworth powered Escort clocking a time of 42.312 making him the fastest Veteran and fastest 4 wheel drive on the day.
Warren Sammut showed huge improvements and took the honours for fastest real wheel drive in his Cosworth powered Escort hitting the clock at 43.091.
Island Car Club’s 4th round will be held on 4 December.
