Georgian father and son receive jail time for theft at private residences

A father and son from Georgia were sentenced to 20 months and 15 months’ imprisonme­nt after they admitted to stealing from two separate private homes in Għajnsiele­m.

The father, Akaki Shengelia, 55, and his son Valeriani, 32, are charged with robbing a private home on 24 October, and then again on 1 August.

They were also charged with damaging and causing harm to the two separate homes. They both pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them, leading Magistrate Joe Mifsud, who was presiding over the case, to sentence Mr Akaki to 20 months’ imprisonme­nt and his son Valeriani to 15 months’ imprisonme­nt.
