Elmo In­surance Ltd holds an ed­u­ca­tional talk on cancer aware­ness

Elmo In­surance em­ploy­ees at­tended an ed­u­ca­tional talk pre­sented by Dr Stephanie Kotes, Urol­o­gist, cur­rently pro­mot­ing the cam­paign re­lat­ing to tes­tic­u­lar cancer aware­ness called, ‘Love Thy Balls’.

Ev­ery year ap­prox­i­mately 1,000 new male cancer cases are di­ag­nosed while an­nual deaths from male cancer amount to ap­prox­i­mately 500. Fo­cus is be­ing given to tes­tic­u­lar cancer which is the most com­mon cancer amongst males aged be­tween 15 and 40. This is 99% treat­able if de­tected early.

Upon pre­sent­ing a do­na­tion to­wards the cam­paign ‘Love Thy Balls’ and RIDT (The Univer­sity of Malta Re­search In­no­va­tion and Devel­op­ment Trust), An­thony Cauchi, Gen­eral Man­ager, said “We be­lieve that as a com­pany we have a re­spon­si­bil­ity to­wards the com­mu­nity and this is why we are join­ing the lo­cal ef­fort to raise aware­ness about male cancer in Malta.”
