Lo­cal coun­cils and NGOs urged to ap­ply for EU funds for clean air, cul­tural her­itage

Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary for the EU Pres­i­dency 2017 and EU Funds Ian Borg has an­nounced Call IV - un­der Pri­or­ity Axis 4: ‘Shift­ing to­wards a low-car­bon econ­omy’ - aimed at en­hanc­ing Malta’s en­vi­ron­ment by investing in cleaner air.

This aims to pro­mote the pro­duc­tion and the dis­tri­bu­tion of en­ergy de­rived from re­new­able sources.

An­other investment aim un­der Pri­or­ity Axis 5 – ‘Pro­tect­ing our en­vi­ron­ment: investing in nat­u­ral and cul­tural as­sets’ sup­ports the con­ser­va­tion, pro­tec­tion, pro­mo­tion and devel­op­ment of nat­u­ral and cul­tural her­itage of the Mal­tese Is­lands, was also launched on Satur­day.

Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary Ian Borg ex­plained that this call tar­gets Lo­cal Coun­cils and Non-Govern­men­tal Or­gan­i­sa­tions (NGOs) and re­minded that the dead­line for sub­mis­sion of project pro­pos­als is Fri­day 7 April 2017.

He con­cluded by stat­ing that the gov­ern­ment is com­mit­ted at se­cur­ing more funds to­wards safe­guard­ing our nat­u­ral sur­round­ings and sub­se­quently en­cour­aged lo­cal coun­cils and NGOs to step for­ward and make good use of the avail­able EU Funds. He also thanked the Man­ag­ing Au­thor­ity (PPCD) who is re­spon­si­ble from the ad­min­is­tra­tion of this call.
