Six­teen years ago the Xagħrabased group of vol­un­tary youths and ado­les­cents, The Guid­ing Light Group, took on the chal­lenge of or­gan­is­ing the very first live crib on the Is­land of Gozo.

How­ever, last year, the group de­cided to change the pre­sen­ta­tion of this ac­tiv­ity and came up with a to­tally new take to its ex­e­cu­tion by or­ga­niz­ing Pre­sepju Suq u Mexxi – an­other first for the Mal­tese Is­lands.

Fol­low­ing the suc­cess of the first edi­tion of Pre­sepju Suq u Mexxi, the group, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Min­istry for Gozo, Xagħra Lo­cal Coun­cil, Gozo Christ­mas and Għaqda Milied fix-Xagħra, are proud to or­ga­nize this ac­tiv­ity again.

Pre­sepju Suq u Mexxi is a par­tic­u­lar project where vis­i­tors em­bark on an in­ter­ac­tive drive through the Na­tiv­ity scene in will be or­gan­ised at Mis­raħ iżŻ­jara tal-Papa Ġwanni Pawlu II. The ac­tiv­ity will be or­gan­ised in the form of a small Christ­mas vil­lage, from where var­i­ous typ­i­cal Mal­tese and Christ­mas prod­ucts will be sold by lo­cal NGOs. All stalls will be open at 7pm and will see a full pro­gramme of ac­tiv­i­ties the idyl­lic Għajn Ħosna Road lead­ing to Ramla Bay.

Driv­ers and their pas­sen­gers from the best lo­cal tal­ent as well as in­ter­na­tional artists.

The Għaqda Ko­rali and Orkestrali Maria Bam­bina, So­ci­età Fi­lar­mon­ica La Vit­to­ria and Mal­colm & Band will be of­fer­ing a mu­si­cal spec­ta­cle on Fri­day, 9 De­cem­ber. The Red Hack­led Pipe Band will be clos­ing the show for the day. A dance spec­ta­cle will get a front row mov­ing seat through the Na­tiv­ity story where through the acted word a will be put on by Arte­mo­cion the fol­low­ing day, fol­lowed by other mu­si­cal per­for­mances, this time by Għaqda Mużikali Im­pe­rial and JAMM Band to­gether with other lo­cal singers. Var­i­ous lo­cal par­tic­i­pants will be per­form­ing the fol­low­ing day with the pop­u­lar An­i­mae Gospel Choir clos­ing the evening. new form of evan­ge­liza­tion will take place.

This event can only be or­ga­nized with the help of around 200 vol­un­teers from Xagħra. This year, vis­i­tors will be able to visit the event on Mon­day, 26, Tues­day, 27 and Wed­nes­day, 28 De­cem­ber, from 5pm till 10pm.

En­trance is free of charge and vis­it­ing driv­ers are kindly re­minded that the event will be ac­ces­si­ble only from Għajn Qasab Road, Nadur, if they are ac­com­pa­nied by at least three pas­sen­gers. Due to the na­ture of the event, vis­i­tors will not be al­lowed to walk or cy­cle through the event. Ad­di­tion­ally, large ve­hi­cles such as buses and minibuses will not be al­lowed to go through.
