Presepju suq u mexxi 2016
Sixteen years ago the Xagħrabased group of voluntary youths and adolescents, The Guiding Light Group, took on the challenge of organising the very first live crib on the Island of Gozo.
However, last year, the group decided to change the presentation of this activity and came up with a totally new take to its execution by organizing Presepju Suq u Mexxi – another first for the Maltese Islands.
Following the success of the first edition of Presepju Suq u Mexxi, the group, in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo, Xagħra Local Council, Gozo Christmas and Għaqda Milied fix-Xagħra, are proud to organize this activity again.
Presepju Suq u Mexxi is a particular project where visitors embark on an interactive drive through the Nativity scene in will be organised at Misraħ iżŻjara tal-Papa Ġwanni Pawlu II. The activity will be organised in the form of a small Christmas village, from where various typical Maltese and Christmas products will be sold by local NGOs. All stalls will be open at 7pm and will see a full programme of activities the idyllic Għajn Ħosna Road leading to Ramla Bay.

The Għaqda Korali and Orkestrali Maria Bambina, Società Filarmonica La Vittoria and Malcolm & Band will be offering a musical spectacle on Friday, 9 December. The Red Hackled Pipe Band will be closing the show for the day. A dance spectacle will get a front row moving seat through the Nativity story where through the acted word a will be put on by Artemocion the following day, followed by other musical performances, this time by Għaqda Mużikali Imperial and JAMM Band together with other local singers. Various local participants will be performing the following day with the popular Animae Gospel Choir closing the evening. new form of evangelization will take place.
This event can only be organized with the help of around 200 volunteers from Xagħra. This year, visitors will be able to visit the event on Monday, 26, Tuesday, 27 and Wednesday, 28 December, from 5pm till 10pm.
Entrance is free of charge and visiting drivers are kindly reminded that the event will be accessible only from Għajn Qasab Road, Nadur, if they are accompanied by at least three passengers. Due to the nature of the event, visitors will not be allowed to walk or cycle through the event. Additionally, large vehicles such as buses and minibuses will not be allowed to go through.
