In­dia take con­trol, re­move Eng­land top or­der

Eng­land were in deep trou­ble against In­dia on day three of the third test, col­laps­ing to 78-4 at stumps in their sec­ond in­nings af­ter the hosts were bowled out for 417 runs in their first in­nings.

In­dia lead by 56 runs. Joe Root was un­beaten on 36 runs, while Gareth Batty was bat­ting on 0 not out. Haseeb Hameed did not open the bat­ting ow­ing to his in­jured hand. Alas­tair Cook (12) and Root then put on 27 runs for the first wicket.
