PM meets Merkel, Kenny

Prime Min­is­ter Joseph Mus­cat yes­ter­day met Ger­man Chan­cel­lor An­gela Merkel to dis­cuss Malta’s pri­or­i­ties dur­ing its six months of EU pres­i­dency which start on 1 Jan­uary. Ear­lier, Dr Mus­cat met with Ir­ish PM Enda Kenny, with Dr Mus­cat say­ing Malta and Ire­land en­joy com­mon in­ter­ests in the search of prac­ti­cal so­lu­tions for Euro­pean prob­lems. Brexit was among the topics dis­cussed by the two lead­ers as was im­mi­gra­tion and the eco­nomic and financial gov­er­nance in a sin­gle mar­ket con­text. Malta and Ire­land can work to­gether more in this, Dr Mus­cat said. Dr Mus­cat is ac­com­pa­nied by Deputy Prime Min­is­ter Louis Grech, For­eign Min­is­ter Ge­orge Vella and par­lia­men­tary sec­re­tary Ian Borg.
