Deserved win for Mosta over Hamrun
Mosta Hamrun 5 0
Mosta were the better side especially in the second period during which they scored four goals.
They are now on 7 points from 4 games while Hamrun have only 3 points, also from 4 games.
The first two actions were created by Mosta. Liam Portelli released Calvin Camilleri in the area but he drove over the bar. Camilleri was then fouled on the right flank but the same player missed the far post from the free kick.
In Hamrun’s first action Christopher Galea dribbled past an opponent outside the area but Mosta keeper Kyle Zammit saved his shot from the distance.
Portelli served Jordan Vella with a cross in the area and with only Hamrun keeper Clint Borg to beat, he skied the ball from two metres.
Camilleri missed the upright from a free kick after Portelli was fouled outside the area. Then Hamrun defender Clyde Bonnici handled the ball outside the area but Borg saved in two attempts the free kick by Camilleri.
Five minutes before the break, Mosta opened the score when Matthias Formosa released Matthew Attard on the right flank who after advancing, scored with a cross-shot past a helpless Borg.
The first action after the restart was created by Hamrun as Vella was fouled in midfield and after the ball was partly cleared from the free kick by Cain Cutajar, Friggieri skied the ball from the rebound.
Goalie Borg then saved a header by Adrian Sammut and soon after, from a Vella cross in the area, Jayden Aquilina failed to apply the killer touch when wellplaced in the goal area.
In the 63rd minute Hamrun came very close to level matters as Vella latched on to a long through ball and after entering the area the ball was cleared on the line after his shot.
Mosta doubled their lead in the 68th minute as Vella was fouled on the right edge of the area and Camilleri scored with a rising shot from the free kick.
Between the 73rd and 76th minutes Mosta added two more goals. Camilleri scored with a hard low grounder and Jayden Aquilina pounced on a faulty clearance to score with a high drive from just outside the area.
Two minutes before the end, the score became 5-0 as Karl Bianco served Jayden Aquilina in the area and after he was pushed Camilleri made no mistake from the penalty spot.
