Church door set on fire
The front door of a church in Birkirkara was set on fire yesterday morning. The church is dedicated to St Mary, and is known among the parishioners as the Knisja l-Qadima (old church). The fire was discovered by the church sacristan who put the blaze out with the help of some people living in the area. The police are investigating. The parish, on its Facebook page, said that it was an arson attempt. It said that the fire was put out before it could spread to the inside of the church. The parish condemned the “barbaric and heartless” act, requesting anyone with information to approach the police.
