PN reiterates position that former freemasons cannot vote
The Nationalist Party has reiterated its position that freemasons – former or current – cannot be members of the party and as such, lawyer Arthur Azzopardi is not eligible to vote in the election for party leader.
Azzopardi had admitted to having been a freemason and was told he could no longer vote. In a letter he sent to the party, he said that he had been denied a fair hearing.
In a letter in reply, caretaker secretary general Rosette Thake said that the PN statute prohibited its members to be part of secret societies.
