Cospicua social housing project ‘proceeding at a good pace’
Work on the Cospicua social housing project is proceeding well, Parliamentary Secretary for Social Accommodation Roderick Galdes said yesterday.
Galdes said that over the past weeks, work on the site si that 68 apartments, 100 parking spaces, a childcare centre and a community centre take the place of 3,000sqm of abandoned buildings has been ongoing.
The majority of the structures that had to be demolished have been removed.
He said that plans had to be amended to safeguard historical aspects, and mentioned changes to plans which had occurred after discussions with local NGOs, the local council etc. The plans, he said, were amended to improve quality of life for residents. The change brought 12 more apartments than originally envisaged in addition to 850 sqm of public open space.
The Parliamentary Secretary said that the visual impact will not be major.
