Another achievement for Gozo

The Malta Business Weekly - - NEWS -

In November 2014, the English Speaking Union (ESU International), in partnership with Royal Holloway, University of London, launched My Magna Carta, an international creative writing competition for secondary school students all over the world. Young people were invited to submit their own modern constitutional document that safeguarded the rights, privileges and liberties that matter to them.

The ESU Malta (Gozo Branch) took the initiative to contact Gozo Secondary schools to encourage participation in this international competition.

The Bishop’s Conservatory School was the sole participant from Gozo and one of its students, namely Marie Georgette Spiteri, aged 14, won My Magna Carta International creative essay-writing competition from Europe in the Junior section.

Marie Georgette should be proud of her achievement as she beat hundreds of entrants from all over Europe to reach the Grand Finale.

On 15 October seven finalists in the Junior Grand Finale, representing all continents, presented their entries to a judging panel at Dartmouth House, London. The entries were all rated very highly, leaving the judging panel with a very tough decision to award the overall winner.

Jane Josefowicz, from the USA, won the overall Junior prize while Marie Georgette, from Gozo, Malta, was the only participant to be awarded a special commendation.
