Transavia will be doubling its flight frequency from Paris Orly to Malta as of April

The Malta Business Weekly - - NEWS -

The Malta Tourism Authority has recently participated at the most important Tourism Trade Fair in France, namely the IFTM Top Resa. This was attended by Dominic Micallef, newly appointed manager in charge of the French office and supported by long time employee Thierry Durant

Top Resa, which first took place in 1979, is a multi-target fair and covers all motivation to travel, namely business, leisure and events. Of those that visit the fair, almost 40% are French travel agencies, while 25% of visitors are related to Buyers Business and the MICE segment.

Throughout the fair, MTA rep- resentatives met various French tour operators to discuss the market situation, whereby the operators confirmed that the outlook for Malta from the French market during 2016 is envisaged to continue to be a positive one. These positive indications are good news for the Maltese Islands as the MTA is aiming for more growth from this important market.

Recently released statistics clearly indicate that the French market continued to grow - in the first six months there was an increase of 4.8% in inbound tourists, when compared to the same period in 2014. A total of 60,498 French tourists visited Malta between January and June.

During the travel fair, Valletta’s Grand Harbour was voted as the second preferred port of call by the French in 2014. Cédric Rivoire-Perrochat of Cruise Lines International Association France presented the trophies to the representatives of the top ports of call preferred by the French. The port of New York placed first, whilst for the French public, Valletta’s Grand Harbour was their most preferred port of call in Europe.

During the meetings held during the fair, Transavia confirmed that in summer 2016 it will be doubling its service from Paris Orly to Malta from two flights per week to four flights per week.
