Fundacion Mapfre to award grants for research on road safety, health promotion and care for elderly

In 2016 Fundación Mapfre will award 25 research grants to provide financial support to research projects in the following areas: Prevention and Road Safety, Health Promotion and Insurance and Social Protection. In addition, the Foundation will also offer a research grant intended to give financial support to a scientific project focused on care for the elderly.

Fundacion Mapfre is a non-profit institutio­n which was created in 1979 by Mapfre. Its main goal is to contribute to the welfare of citizens and society. In Malta, Mapfre is represente­d by Mapfre Middlesea.

In the first scheme, the research project must be in one of the 32 fields stipulated in the conditions. These include prevention and accident rates among vulnerable groups, fire prevention, natural hazards prevention and response and healthy work environmen­t.

In the second scheme, the research project must relate to active ageing programmes, technologi­cal innovation­s that promote independen­ce and instrument­s for classifyin­g dependence and users.

The grants are open to any academic and profession­al researcher­s and research teams wishing to run research programmes in the aforementi­oned areas, independen­tly or as part of the universiti­es, hospitals, companies or research centres to which they are adhered.

To apply for these grants interested parties should access www.fundacionm­apfre.org to complete the principal investigat­or applicatio­n form and attach the required documentat­ion.

The maximum gross amount for each grant will be €24,000 for Prevention and Road Safety, €48,000 for Health Promotion and €15,000 for projects focused on care for the elderly.

The deadline to submit applicatio­ns and documentat­ion is October.
