Col­lec­tion of tra­di­tional Chi­nese medicine books do­nated to Univer­sity of Malta

In a cer­e­mony held at the Univer­sity of Malta Li­brary, Jiang Jiang, Am­bas­sador of the Peo­ple’s Repub­lic of China to Malta re­cently do­nated a num­ber of books to the rec­tor of the Univer­sity, Pro­fes­sor Al­fred J. Vella. These books were re­ceived from the Shang­hai Mu­nic­i­pal Ed­u­ca­tion Com­mit­tee fol­low­ing the visit to Malta last Septem­ber.

The col­lec­tion in­cludes two copies of 35 books about Chi­nese Tra­di­tional Medicine. Also present were Univer­sity of Malta pro rec­tor for Strate­gic Plan­ning and En­ter­prise, Pro­fes­sor Tanya Sam­mut Bon­nici, Li­brary di­rec­tor, Kevin J. El­lul and the pres­i­dent of the Malta-China Friend­ship So­ci­ety, Reno Calleja, as well as the di­rec­tor of the Univer­sity of Malta’s Cen­tre for Tra­di­tional Chi­nese Medicine, Pro­fes­sor Charles Savona Ven­tura.

The Univer­sity of Malta of­fers a course of stud­ies to pro­fes­sion­ally train health­care per­son­nel in Tra­di­tional Chi­nese Medicine tech­niques and help them to at­tain the high stan­dards of prac­tice re­quired by the World Health Or­gan­i­sa­tion.

The Univer­sity of Malta course is be­ing man­aged and taught in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Shang­hai Univer­sity of Tra­di­tional Chi­nese Medicine which is a cen­tre of ex­cel­lence in China and one of the first four col­leges teach­ing TCM in China.

In con­junc­tion with the the­o­ret­i­cal course, the Univer­sity has set up a Tra­di­tional Chi­nese Medicine Clinic manned by highly pro­fes­sional doc­tors of the Shang­hai Univer­sity.

These are in Malta to specif­i­cally manage the ded­i­cated clinic at the Univer­sity, sited at Triq lImħallef Paolo De­bono, Msida (next to the old en­trance gate of the Univer­sity).
