Maltese young scientists missing from EU Contest for Young Scientists for three years now

The Malta Business Weekly - - FRONT PAGE - Noel Grima

As this paper reported two issues back, there were no Maltese participants in the 30th EU Contest for Young Scientists that was held a few weeks back.

A Communication Officer from DG Research and Innovation told this paper that Maltese students competed at EUCYS from 1998 to 2015.

Unfortunately Malta has not sent contestants to EUCYS for the past three years (2016, 2017 and 2018) although they are invited every year.

The National Student Travel Foundation was nominated National Organiser for EUCYS by the Ministry of Education in 1997 and through the Maltese national con- test selects participants for the EU Contest for Young Scientists.

The European Commission would be happy to reopen a dialogue with Malta and have Maltese students involved in the next contests, the Communication Officer said..
