Ital­ian woman, Ir­ish man hit by cars in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents

A 23-year-old Ital­ian woman was se­ri­ously in­jured in the early hours of yes­ter­day morn­ing, hav­ing been hit by a Peu­geot 308 driven by a 20-year-old Dingli res­i­dent.

The ac­ci­dent oc­curred at 3.40 am on Gorġ Borġ Olivier Street in St Ju­lian’s. The woman was taken to Mater Dei Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Also yes­ter­day morn­ing – at 9.30 am – an Ir­ish man liv­ing in Sliema was in­volved in a col­li­sion with a car on Triq ix-Xatt in Sliema.

The 35-year-old man, a Sliema res­i­dent, was hit by a Volk­swa­gen Golf, driven by a 67-year-old woman from Sliema.

The man was taken to hos­pi­tal, suf­fer­ing from griev­ous in­juries.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions and mag­is­te­rial in­quiries are on­go­ing.
