Mandolin and guitar for the first Bir Miftuh Concert of 2018
The Bir Miftuh International Music Festival organised annually by Din l-Art Helwa opens with a mandolin and guitar Recital by the CORDAminazioni Duo comprised of Tiziano Pallaino – mandolin, and Davide Di Ienno – guitar.
Being held on Friday 25 May at 7.30pm, this concert has been made possible by the Embassy of Italy and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. The programme comprises works by Corelli, Gervasio, Rossini, Mascagni, Bellafronte and Piazzolla. The medieval church of Santa Maria of Bir Miftuh, with its beautiful fragment frescos, was restored by Din lArt Helwa. It provides perfect acoustics and atmosphere, and is found taking the left turn at the roundabout before Malta International Airport. Refreshments are served in the medieval chapel’s grounds after the concert.
Tiziano Palladino – mandolin, graduated with the highest honours in the Studies of Mandolin and Double Bass and in Chamber Music. He has performed over 600 concerts all over the world and has given solo mandolin recitals in Warsaw, Madrid, Istanbul, Dublin, Thessaloniki, Athens and Stockholm. Palladino is always greatly applauded for his versatility, his virtuosity and the particular sensitivity that mark each performance. He has been on many concert tours, the most impressive being those in Canada and the USA. He has various CDs to his credit.
Davide Di Ienno – guitar, is a highly tal- ented musician and has delighted audiences in Italy, France, Germany and Austria. He has performed as a soloist, on various occasions, the stunningly beautiful ‘Concierto de Aranjuez’ with the Filarmonica Oltenia Craiova Orchestra of Romania and with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philarmonie of Koblenz, Germany. In 2016, he performed as a solo, in world premiere, the Suite n.2 by R. Bellafronte for guitar, bassoon and string orchestra, during a tour with the Wiener Concert Verein and Patrick de Ritis, playing in various prestigious Italian theatres and at the Brahms–Saal at the Musikverein in Vienna.
Tickets are against a donation of €20 person including refreshments with block tickets for three concerts at €50 per person, and for two concerts of €35 per person.
