Fondazzjoni Kreattività has significantly augmented its permanent collection with the addition of a large-scale multimedia installation. Through the Valletta International Visual Arts Festival (Viva), Fondazzjoni Kreattività has added the centre-piece from the exhibition The ‘Tao’ of Nature by Yang Zhiling, entitled To Carry Along Your Own Sunshine, to the national collection.

Consisting of four hanging works measuring approximately 6 metres each in length, as well as a specially created projection, this piece is the largest work of art in terms of size to enter the national collection through Fondazzjoni Kreattività. Yang Zhiling is the first independent contemporary artist from China to have a major solo exhibition as part of Viva. The ‘Tao’ of Nature exhibition was produced in collaboration with the China Cultural Centre, Malta, and curated by Liang Shuhan.

Since 2016, Fondazzjoni Kreattività has undertaken the task of archiving and cataloguing its Permanent Collection, which is currently stored at St James Cavalier. This project is set to be completed in 2020 as part of the Fondazzjoni Kreattività’s 20th anniversary celebrations, when the collection will be made accessible to the public.

The ‘Tao’ of Nature, part of Viva, is open to the public until 20 May, in Space A, St James Cavalier, Valletta.
