Mauritius Classic Tour: Time machines on wheels毛里求斯经典巡回赛：车轮上的时光机器
November, the drivers of 17 collectible cars met at the Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa – also the host and one of the main event organisers – to connect over their common passion. 11 cars were flown in from Paris by Air Mauritius, and their drivers were invited to discover the unique and wonderful Mauritian landscape over a three-day rally in the summer sun.
The drivers set out the first day to visit iconic sites in the North. They stopped at SSR Botanical garden, lunched at Chateau de Labourdonnais and admired the beautiful view over the Northen islets from Cap Malheureux church and its famous red roof. On the second day, the participants set course towards the wilderness of the south, starting with a morning tea break & blessing ceremony at Grand Bassin, followed by lunch & activities at La Vallée des Couleurs. The day ended with a welldeserved tea break and visit at the Rhumerie de Chamarel.
The final leg took them through the West Coast, with a lunch stop at
Tamarina Golf. The teams dined and slept at the luxurious Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa throughout their stay.
While numerous celebrities joined the ranks for the exclusive rally – including actor Raphaël Personnaz, retired racer Stephane de Grodt and TV presenter François Allain – none shone brighter than the stunning vehicles that made up the Mauritius Classic Tour. Among them featured a couple of vintage Porsche 365, a Maserati Ghibli Spider, an Austin Healy and – de Grodt’s personal choice – a 1975 Alpine Berlinette A110 1300.
This event was designed to showcase Mauritius under a new light. Its roaring success forebodes a great chance of hosting the event again in the future. As a proud partner of the Mauritius Classic Tour, Air Mauritius provided preferential rates to all participants and handled the transfer of 11 vintage cars from Paris to Mauritius. It was a strong challenge that allowed our visitors to create unforgettable memories, and one we will gladly take up again next year.
