A New Tourism Complex
Two years after construction was stopped, the firms Alehel and GIM began working with the tourist project Kanai, which comprises four big hotel complexes.
This was confirmed by Eduardo Morentín Ocejo, general director of Solidaridad’s Environmental and Urban Planning department, after indicating that the construction permits had been applied for.
He commented that representatives of investment groups have announced they would begin the project soon as possible. Park Hyatt, W Retreat, St Regis and Auberge are the involved parties, and will include an initial investment of $200 million dollars.
It is estimated that when completed, the complex will generate 3,200 direct jobs; the first stage will be ready in 2018. The W Retreat will have 180 rooms; the Saint Regis, 136 rooms; and the Park Hyatt, 224; this project also has an ambitious beach rescue program, and will be part of what is known as the Regional Environmental System Punta Bete-Punta Maroma.
