On August 8, president of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee (MNOC) D.Zagdsuren and secretary-general of the MNOC E.Badar-Uugan met with world freestyle wrestling champion P.Orkhon and her coach Ts.Khosbayar to present her with a Tokyo 2020 Olympic scholarship.

P.Orkhon’s coach and officials of the Mongolian Wrestling Federation attended the scholarship granting ceremony.

The Olympic Scholarships is designed to improve the competitiveness of the Olympic Games.

The Olympic scholarship program offers National Olympic Committees the opportunity to obtain financial and technical assistance for a limited number of elite athletes who are training to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

Accordance to the scholarships rule, grant receivers must avoid all ethical problems and banned substances. If they breach the rule, they will be removed from the program.

The previous scholarship program for the Rio 2016 Olympics involved 17 athletes from Mongolia.
