MPs talk with Inter-Parliamentary Union’s delegates about S.Zorig’s murder
Vice Head of Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights D.Tsogtbaatar and MP J.Batzandan met with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)’s Human Rights Committee (HRC) Fawzia Koofi and member of the HRC Ali Alaradi.
The HRC delegation asked the MPs about Mongolia’s laws and resolutions on human rights and the court decision on the murder of S.Zorig, one of the leaders of the Mongolian democratic revolution.
Alaradi pointed out that the IPU is focusing on the investigation process of S.Zorig’s murder case and emphasized that as Mongolia is a young democratic country, the country needs to improve public perceptions of human rights. He underlined that the court should make independent decisions.
Member of Parliament D.Tsogtbaatar asked for the HRC’s assistance in improving the country’s legal system on human rights and increasing mutual cooperation in such areas.
