EXHIBITION FOR MASTERPIECES OF 2017 OPENS
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and the Department of Arts and Culture are hosting an annual exhibition for the year's masterpieces from October 6 to 15 at the National Fine Art Gallery.
The exhibition features 135 artworks by 98 artists, which includes fine arts, sculpture, ceramics, illustration, wood block print, and handicrafts. All artworks on view at the gallery were created from 2015 to 2017.
As the government issued a resolution in 2006 mandating that the best artworks of the country be reserved in the National Treasury by purchasing them through the state budget, the exhibition for a given year's masterpieces has been organized annually. A council of professional artists, art researchers, art critics, representatives from the Union of Mongolian Artists, and officials of the state’s central authority in charge of arts and cultural affairs selects the best artworks to be displayed at the annual exhibition.
After the selection process is carried out by the council before October 15 of each year, the exhibition features the most excellent and highly praised artworks of that year.
