M.TSANLIG WINS VET­ERAN WORLD CHAM­PI­ONSHIPS

Sports Mas­ter of Mon­go­lia M.Tsanlig be­came world cham­pion in the men’s 130 kg cat­e­gory of Greco-Ro­man wrestling at the 2017 Vet­eran World Cham­pi­onships cur­rently tak­ing place in Plov­div, Bul­garia.

Some 600 vet­eran wrestlers from 41 coun­tries are com­pet­ing in the 19th Vet­eran World Cham­pi­onships, which will end on Oc­to­ber 14.

Mon­go­lia’s M.Tsanlig had a bye in the first round, and de­feated Heikki Janne Haarakan­gas of Fin­land 8-0 in the sec­ond round.

After­wards, he over­pow­ered Ivan Matekovic of Croa­tia 5-0 in the third round.

M.Tsanlig reached gold medal af­ter beat­ing In­dia’s Naren­der Singh and an Ira­nian wrestler.

Mongolian ath­letes Ch.Purevba­yar and In­ter­na­tional Sports Mas­ter D.Gan­bat came in fifth places in the men’s 78 kg and 88 kg di­vi­sions of Gre­coRo­man wrestling.
