Mon­go­lian ath­letes win 7 medals at Yoshida Saori Cup 2017


Young Mon­go­lian freestyle wrestlers won seven medals at the Yoshida Saori Cup 2017 in­ter­na­tional tour­na­ment in honor of three­time Olympic cham­pion and 13-time world cham­pion Saori Yoshida of Ja­pan.

The tour­na­ment took place on Novem­ber 3 and 4 in Tsu, Ja­pan, the birth­place of Yoshida.

Mon­go­lia was rep­re­sented by over 20 ju­nior wrestlers coached by T.Sukhbaatar and S.Munkhdu­ul­dakh. They brought home a gold medal along with two silver and four bronze medals.

In the girls’ cat­e­gory, wrestler of Genco Club B.Maral won a gold medal, while E.Odzaya and U.Purevsuren seized silver medals. Four bronze medals were taken by D.Ot­gon­jar­gal, M.Munkhgerel, M.Tu­men-Ulzii and B.Khon­gorzul.

More than 900 wrestlers from six coun­tries, in­clud­ing Mon­go­lia, Ja­pan, France, the USA and Nor­way, com­peted in the third Yoshida Saori Cup.
