Drivers who didn’t pay taxes prohibited from using roads after November 20
Tax offices and traffic police have reminded drivers to pay their taxes as soon as possible as they will be stripped off of their right to drive after November 20, according to traffic regulations.
In conformity with the Ulaanbaatar General Manager’s Guidelines for Inspection of Taxes and Fee Collection, the Ulaanbaatar Tax Office and Traffic Police Department plans to check the paperworks of vehicles within the city to ensure all drivers have paid their taxes.
According to Article 7.1 in the Law on Tax of Automotive and Self-Driving Cars, vehicle owners are obliged to pay a one-time vehicle tax before June 1 and if a vehicle is imported after June 1, the owner must pay the vehicle tax before end of the year.
If drivers fail to comply, the police can impose a fine of 20,000 MNT to a million MNT in accordance with the Law on Conflicts.
Drivers can check whether they have a pending vehicle tax or fine from the website www.smartcar.mn.
