Mongolian Handball Federation receives prize from International Handball Federation
The Mongolian Handball Federation was awarded the International Handball Federation (IHF) President’s Development Award 2017 for emerging federations during the 36th Ordinary Congress of IHF, which was held on November 11 and 12 in Antalya, Turkey.
President of IHF Hassan Moustafa handed the trophy and certificate to the Mongolian Handball Federation’s president D.Jargalsaikhan. The selection was organized for the first time among handball federations in emerging countries based on their performance between 2014 and 2017.
IHF awarded the prize in recognition of the Mongolian Handball Federation’s contribution to the development and growth of handball in Mongolia.
The Mongolian Handball Federation hosted the IHF Trophy in Ulaanbaatar in 2014. Mongolian handball athletes have successfully been competing in the Asian Games and international competitions, and organizing national championships in all age categories as well as international joint trainings.
The Mongolian Handball Federation has been organizing a league tournament since 2016 and initiated a development program. The federation has also promoted the handball sport in rural parts of Mongolia.
