Mongolia clinches 4 medals at World Weightlifting Cup
The World Weightlifting Cup was held from October 18 to 23 in China. A team of four weightlifters represented Mongolia and all four won medals. Some 410 athletes from 21 countries took part in the competition. Sh.Lhagva competed in the men’s 55 kg 60+, V.Baljinnyam in the men’s 89 kg 75+, and Ts.Oyunchimeg in the women’s 87 kg 55+ became champions.
First time participant Kh.Chinzorig won silver medal in the male 50 kg. This is the sixth time Ts.Oyunchimeg won the World Cup and the second time for V.Baljinnyam.
In 2018, Ts.Oyunchimeg became the first Mongolian athlete to win the Asian Weightlifting Championships. The 56-yearold has broken 14 world records, updated 23 Asian records and has four Grand Prix medals.
The Mongolian athletes will return home today.
