Mon­go­lia clinches 4 medals at World Weightlift­ing Cup

The World Weightlift­ing Cup was held from Oc­to­ber 18 to 23 in China. A team of four weightlifters rep­re­sented Mon­go­lia and all four won medals. Some 410 ath­letes from 21 coun­tries took part in the com­pe­ti­tion. Sh.Lhagva com­peted in the men’s 55 kg 60+, V.Baljin­nyam in the men’s 89 kg 75+, and Ts.Oyunchimeg in the women’s 87 kg 55+ be­came cham­pi­ons.

First time par­tic­i­pant Kh.Chin­zorig won sil­ver medal in the male 50 kg. This is the sixth time Ts.Oyunchimeg won the World Cup and the sec­ond time for V.Baljin­nyam.

In 2018, Ts.Oyunchimeg be­came the first Mon­go­lian ath­lete to win the Asian Weightlift­ing Cham­pi­onships. The 56-yearold has bro­ken 14 world records, up­dated 23 Asian records and has four Grand Prix medals.

The Mon­go­lian ath­letes will re­turn home to­day.
