Black-necked crane spotted in Mongolia
Grus Nigricollis, commonly known as blacknecked crane that inhabits the Tibetan Plateua and remote parts of India and Bhutan, which was never been sighted or recorded in Mongolia before, was seen in Bulgan Province earlier this month.
Bird photographer E.Iderbat, who captured photos of the blacknecked crane in Mongolia, said, “A bird I never saw before was wandering around with common Kharkhiraa crane and I captured some photos. I posted them on social media and ornithologists replied and confirmed it’s a new species. Blacknecked crane has a population of 10,000 and is recorded in the IUCN Red List for being endangered. Mongolian ornithologists are very happy for officially recording the seventh species of crane out of 15 crane species in the world.”
