Where we misunderstand the terrorists

Mizzima Business Weekly - - FEATURE -

Few would dispute that the militants who call themselves Islamic State are brutal killers with an ideology that appears to have no place in the modern world. Yet there are some fundamental falsehoods being published about who they are and where they came from. The following views from a variety of experts and commentators offer a brief insight into the militant group that is called IS, ISIL, ISIS or derogatorily called Daesh. It should be noted that IS is often taken as a label or affiliation by other Islamic militant groups who seek to gain from the status and notoriety of the group. They may not be operationally linked.
