Peace Process

Mizzima Business Weekly - - ETHNIC NEWS ROUNDUP -

A meeting of the Peace Commission, Delegation for Political Negotiation, and the technical support committee was held last week at the National Reconciliation & Peace Centre in Kamayut, Yangon.

The meeting took place to discuss a number of proposals put forward by the UNFC. Out of 8 proposals submitted to the government by UNFC, which are needed for them to sign the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, 4 have been agreed.

According to a state media report, the director of the technical support committee said, “There are still worries and anxieties among all as to whether armed conflicts will continue to exist after signing NCA and how these will be dealt with.”

The next Union Peace Conference is scheduled for the beginning of next year and hoped non-signatory groups will sign the NCA before then
