Malaysia’s Kian Joo con­structs two man­u­fac­tur­ing plants in Myan­mar

The plants are lo­cated in the Thi­lawa Spe­cial Eco­nomic Zone. One plant is for Kian Joo’s “can pro­duc­tion” and another one is for its sub­sidiary Box-Pak Bhd’s mak­ing cor­ru­gated car­tons.

The con­struc­tion of the plants re­quires an in­vest­ment of about US$23.5 mil­lion.

Malaysia-based Kian Joo Can Fac­tory Bhd will fo­cus on firm­ing its Myan­mar foothold, where it has started con­struc­tion of two man­u­fac­tur­ing plants, be­fore tap­ping to dif­fer­ent for­eign mar­kets, re­ported New Delhi Times cit­ing the com­pany’s group chief fi­nan­cial of­fi­cer Ooi Teik Huat.

Kian Joo has ex­ported its goods to Myan­mar, and now wants to es­tab­lish its Malaysian busi­ness model in Myan­mar, where it aims to have tin can, box car­ton man­u­fac­tur­ing and con­tract pack­ing abil­i­ties.
