Malaysia’s Kian Joo constructs two manufacturing plants in Myanmar
The plants are located in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone. One plant is for Kian Joo’s “can production” and another one is for its subsidiary Box-Pak Bhd’s making corrugated cartons.
The construction of the plants requires an investment of about US$23.5 million.
Malaysia-based Kian Joo Can Factory Bhd will focus on firming its Myanmar foothold, where it has started construction of two manufacturing plants, before tapping to different foreign markets, reported New Delhi Times citing the company’s group chief financial officer Ooi Teik Huat.
Kian Joo has exported its goods to Myanmar, and now wants to establish its Malaysian business model in Myanmar, where it aims to have tin can, box carton manufacturing and contract packing abilities.
