Telecom operator Ooredoo plans to launch mobile money services in Myanmar, reported the Deal Street Asia.
“Having chosen Co-operative Bank (CB Bank) as its banking partner, Qatar-based Ooredoo is now awaiting licence approval from the Central Bank of Myanmar,” said the news agency.
Ooredoo has already completed testing the new service and established internal business processes to manage it. M-Pitesan, the new mobile money services, will enable its customers to send money instantly within Myanmar. The telecom provider is hopeful it can launch the mobile money services this year.
