State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi met with the seven Northern Alliance members, including the United Wa State Army [UWSA], on the side-lines of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference in Nay Pyi Taw on May 26, and discussed the changes the armed groups want to make to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.

During the meeting at her home in Nay Pyi Taw, representatives from the groups gave her a book outlining their political stance.
