Lower House dis­cusses plans to con­struct and re­pair roads and bridges

The Lower House ses­sion held in Nay Pyi Taw on Fe­bru­ary 19 dis­cussed plans to con­struct and re­pair roads and bridges, ac­cord­ing to news re­ports. Speak­ing on the plan to re­pair roads in Hlaingth­aya Town­ship, the Deputy Con­struc­tion Min­is­ter Kyaw Lin said that the Yangon-Pathein Road, Yangon-Nyaung­don Road and Anawrahta Road were con­structed by the Ori­en­tal High­way Com­pany and re­pairs were made by the com­pany, and trans­ferred back. Re­gard­ing the plan to re­pair the Thin­bon creek high-water by­pass on the Pin­tale-Meik­tila Road, the Deputy Min­is­ter said that main­te­nance work on the high-water by­pass was con­ducted with a cen­tral gov­ern­ment fund in the 2014-2015 fis­cal year and the Man­dalay re­gion gov­ern­ment fund the 2016-2017 fis­cal year. But it was damaged again by heavy rains in Oc­to­ber 2017. So, a soil test was con­ducted on the change in water flow and a good model was de­signed to re­pair it, and the main­te­nance work is likely to be com­pleted by the 2020- 2021 fis­cal year, ac­cord­ing to the Deputy Min­is­ter. On other par­lia­men­tary news, the sev­enth ses­sion of the Up­per House held its 19th-day meeting on Fe­bru­ary 19, and it dis­cussed school in­fra­struc­ture.
