Lower House discusses plans to construct and repair roads and bridges
The Lower House session held in Nay Pyi Taw on February 19 discussed plans to construct and repair roads and bridges, according to news reports. Speaking on the plan to repair roads in Hlaingthaya Township, the Deputy Construction Minister Kyaw Lin said that the Yangon-Pathein Road, Yangon-Nyaungdon Road and Anawrahta Road were constructed by the Oriental Highway Company and repairs were made by the company, and transferred back. Regarding the plan to repair the Thinbon creek high-water bypass on the Pintale-Meiktila Road, the Deputy Minister said that maintenance work on the high-water bypass was conducted with a central government fund in the 2014-2015 fiscal year and the Mandalay region government fund the 2016-2017 fiscal year. But it was damaged again by heavy rains in October 2017. So, a soil test was conducted on the change in water flow and a good model was designed to repair it, and the maintenance work is likely to be completed by the 2020- 2021 fiscal year, according to the Deputy Minister. On other parliamentary news, the seventh session of the Upper House held its 19th-day meeting on February 19, and it discussed school infrastructure.
