Upper House discusses road construction works
The Upper House session held in Nay Pyi Taw on March 13 discussed road construction works, according to news reports. During the session, Rakhine State constituency (4) MP Kyaw Kyaw asked whether there was a plan to upgrade the inter-village road that connects Gonkyun Village, Mrauk U Township, with Panmyaung Village, Minbya Township, in Rakhine State. In reply to the question, Deputy Construction Minister Kyaw Lin explained that the road was not in the road list of the central government. He said that the road needs to be included in the list prepared by the Ministry. The Rakhine State government needs to submit the proposal to the central government’s office to include it in the list, and once it becomes a road under the Ministry, funds will be requested, he said. Then, depending on the availability of funds, the road will be upgraded, said the Deputy Minister. The Upper House also discussed about the plan to upgrade the inter-village road in Kyauktaw Township that connects Yangon-Sittway Road and Kansauk Village-Kan Thone Sint-Donnar-Nichay-Aukla Village and the building of a 120-feet-long reinforced concrete bridge crossing a branch of Yoe creek near Kansauk Village. The Upper House also discussed the bill on the amendment to an anti-corruption law. In other news, the Lower House session on March 13 discussed power sector.
