Local companies to exhibit at Bangkok’s Organic and Natural Expo 2017
TWO Myanmar organic products manufacturers will participate in the Organic and Natural Expo 2017 to be held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok next week. The Myanmar-based Genius Shan Highlands Coffee from Aung Nay Lin Htun Company and Sein Le Oo’s organic oyster mushroom from PGS Farm will display their products at the event hosted by Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce starting on July 27.
Ma Lay Lay Myint, managing director of Genius Shan Highlands Coffee said, “This is the second time we exhibit our products in an expo this year. We will show two kinds of organic coffee products; coffee bean and coffee powder.”
“We bought organic coffee beans from only 50 selected farmers who grow chemical-free coffee plants in Ywar Ngan village in Shan State,” she said.
Genius organic coffee products has obtained organic certificate not only from the Myanmar government but also from the United States Department of Agriculture and the European Union, Ma Lay Lay Myint added.
“Most Thai residents like to eat organic products and they visit the organic expo. When we show organic coffee in the expo, visitors will wonder how Myanmar can produce organic coffee that even received organic certificate from United States,” she said.
U Wann Tin, associate general manager of Sein Le Oo organic company said, “We will show the organic dried mushroom, fried mushroom and the powder of oyster mushroom and ear mushroom in the expo.”
“We will also showcase fried mushrooms, both sweet and spicy, and mushroom powder as replacement for monosodium glutamate,” he said.
“We got the organic certificate this year and we also participated in Thaifex recently. This is the second time we exhibit our organic mushroom products in the international market this year,” he added.
Thailand’s Organic and Natural Expo 2017 will host more than 200 exhibitors in a 10,000-square-meter exhibition hall, showcasing products from ASEAN countries, including those from Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
The expo aims to raise the variegation of national and international certified products, add value and expand the market for the organic sector, according to Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce.
Among the products that will be highlighted at the expo are organic instant curry paste, jasberry rice, coconut brown sugar, environmentally friendly containers made from tapioca flour and spathe of betel nut. There will also be natural products for pets, such as shampoo.
