THE Economic Committee for the National League for Democracy (NLD) government has recruited two additional members. They are economic expert Dr. Aung Ko Ko and Certified Public Accountant U Win Tin.
The appointments, which are expected to reinforce the NLD Economic Committee, come shortly after State Counsellor Daw Aung Sang Suu Kyi said she would take a direct and active role in handling state economic affairs.
The two new appointees were added under a resolution set at the Central Executive Committee meeting on August 20. They will fill three current vacancies, one committee member said.
The positions were made vacant when U Bo Bo Nge, a former member of the NLD Economic Committee, was appointed as Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, while U Htay Win, another former member, was appointed as the Ayeyarwady Regional Minister for Planning and Finance. The third member has passed away, committee member U Ye Min Oo said.
“Dr. Aung Ko Ko is well-versed in economic development and has been involved in discussions with local and international experts. Meanwhile, U Win Tin is an accountant who knows about financial matters and statistics and has also worked in the Auditor’s General Office.
