Fortune teller in sex harassment case held
A FORTUNE teller at the centre of a sexual harassment case publicised on Facebook which prompted four other women to bring complaints against him was arrested Thursday.
Police identified the fortune teller as Aung Chit Po.
In the first complaint lodged with Sanchaung police on January 31, a university student who is also a model accused the fortune teller of fondling her and touching her private parts after she went to his office to consult him about her future prospects.
After the case received publicity on Facebook four other women came forward and lodged similar complaints against Aung Chit Po.
Aung Chit Po operated out of Koe Htet Gyee Pagoda. The room from which he used to dispense his services has been locked since news of the misconduct allegations started surfacing, while his daily astrology program on TV Channel 9 has been cancelled.
Most of his alleged victims are young females in their twenties.
They decided to seek legal advice from Legal Clinic Myanmar, which pledged to help them in the case.
