Thief catches Shwedagon Pagoda devotees unaware
A slippery-fingered woman was caught pilfering from devotees at Shwedagon Pagoda on July 19.
The 19-year-old Dala native was doing rounds at the pagoda at 9:30am when police found her out. They caught her with a stolen cellphone and K33,600 nicked from unsuspecting girl dropping off her shoes at the southern entrance. The original owners were given back their property and the Dagon police opened a case against the purloiner under section 379 of the penal code. – Toe Wai Aung, translation by
