Man­dalay drug busts nab five

FIVE al­leged drug users were ar­rested and nar­cotics para­pher­na­lia was seized this week af­ter more than 350 po­lice of­fi­cers con­ducted a sweep of 13 tar­gets in Man­dalay district, ac­cord­ing to Po­lice Lieu­tenant Colonel U Han Tun from the Man­dalay Re­gion Po­lice Force.

At a press con­fer­ence yes­ter­day, he said the ar­rests had been made the day prior, with the raids or­dered as part of the govern­ment’s 100-day plan.

“Only drug users were caught. This is not a per­fect out­come. We want to cap­ture the sellers. Some sellers have moved from their homes at four places at Pyi­gy­ita­gun town­ship,” he said.

Lt Col U Han Tun called on the pub­lic for help in ap­pre­hend­ing nar­cotics deal­ers.

The four males and one fe­male were ar­rested in Aung Myay Tharzan town­ship and will be charged with drug pos­ses­sion.
