President U Htin Kyaw, centre, conceded yesterday that his administration’s work had only just begun, as he helped deliver humanitarian relief to people displaced by flooding in Minbu township, Magwe Region. “People will not be satisfied with our efforts [over the first 100 days in office], though we tried hard, as much as we could,” he said, encouraging those present to convey their criticism and difficulties to him. The president and his entourage donated rice, bottled water and edible oil, among other provisions, to those in Minbu township living in temporary camps due to floodwaters. According to data from Minbu’s general administration department, more than 10,000 people in the township have been evacuated due to flooding in recent weeks.
