Uzbek Air­lines jet makes emer­gency land­ing in Rus­sia

An Uzbek­istan Air­ways pas­sen­ger plane was forced to make an emer­gency land­ing at the air­port in Saint Peters­burg in north­west Rus­sia af­ter suf­fer­ing an en­gine fail­ure. The Boe­ing 757-200, with 179 pas­sen­gers and 10 crew mem­bers aboard, cir­cled the air­port sev­eral times to burn off fuel be­fore at­tempt­ing the emer­gency land­ing on Aug 7, Saint Peters­burg air­port spokesper­son Igor Laptev said. “The air­craft car­ried out an emer­gency land­ing be­cause one of the en­gines failed,” he said, adding that all pas­sen­gers and crew were safe and well.
