Taung Pyone Nat Festival in full swing
In a village outside Mandalay, thousands of faithful are gathering to consult Myanmar’s colourful spirit mediums
A natkadaw (spirit medium) performs at the Taung Pyone Nat Festival near Mandalay on August 14. The raucous week-long festival, which draws pilgrims from across the country who are in search of guidance from the spirit world, comes to its climax on August 18, the full moon of the lunar month of Wagaung.
