PKK bombing kills 7 in southeast Turkey
Five Turkish police officers and two civilians were killed in a car bombing outside the southeastern city of Diyarbakir, blamed on Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) rebels. The blast on August 15 hit a police traffic control building on a highway leading from Diyarbakir to the city of Batman, killing the seven, a Turkish official said, confirming media reports. The local governor’s office earlier said 25 people were wounded, including five police officers. One of those killed was a child.
