PKK bomb­ing kills 7 in south­east Turkey

Five Turk­ish po­lice of­fi­cers and two civil­ians were killed in a car bomb­ing out­side the south­east­ern city of Di­yarbakir, blamed on Kur­dis­tan Work­ers’ Party (PKK) rebels. The blast on Au­gust 15 hit a po­lice traf­fic con­trol build­ing on a high­way lead­ing from Di­yarbakir to the city of Bat­man, killing the seven, a Turk­ish of­fi­cial said, con­firm­ing me­dia re­ports. The lo­cal gov­er­nor’s of­fice ear­lier said 25 peo­ple were wounded, in­clud­ing five po­lice of­fi­cers. One of those killed was a child.
