Typhoon grounds 400 flights
A powerful typhoon stuck near Tokyo yesterday, with heavy rain and winds grounding more than 400 flights as officials warned of landslides and flooding. Typhoon Mindulle made landfall about 12:30pm in Tateyama city, roughly 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Tokyo. The storm caused airlines across the country to cancel a total of 425 flights, mostly to and from Haneda airport. Japan Airlines cancelled 185 domestic flights while All Nippon Airways cancelled 112 domestic flights.
