Chinese mahjongg gamblers arrested
Five people were arrested for playing mahjongg, a Chinese tile matching game, in Hlaing Tharyar township on September 5.
Police found the game at a Chinese communication company staff members’ house on Shwe Hninsi Street in the fourth ward at about 4:45pm. Four Chinese nationals, including Xa Hai Bo, 48, and an interpreter, Ma Zin Mar Htet, 20, were in plastic chairs gambling on an electric, green mahjongg board with 115 tiles and K5.58 million (US$4600) and 14,700 Chinese yuan ($2200) in bets.
