Cen­tre to give boost to women busi­ness own­ers

THE Myan­mar Women En­trepreneurs As­so­ci­a­tion will launch its Women En­trepreneur­ship De­vel­op­ment Cen­ter (WEDC) this month, with free busi­ness train­ing and men­tor­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for fe­male busi­ness own­ers.

Ac­cord­ing to a man­age­ment at the as­so­ci­a­tion, the new busi­ness cen­tre will open on Sh­wedagon Pagoda road in Dagon town­ship later this month, although the ex­act date is still to be con­firmed.

Weekly ed­u­ca­tional work­shops and net­work­ing ses­sions for in­ter­ested en­trepreneurs will be held for free over the next three months, the state­ment reads.

“We in­vite women who want to start a busi­ness can join our cen­ter,” said Daw Khin Lay, vice pres­i­dent of Myan­mar Women En­tre­pre­neur’s As­so­ci­a­tion.

The as­so­ci­a­tion is not in a po­si­tion to pro­vide busi­ness fund­ing, but, af­ter three months of work­shops, will be con­nect­ing per­spec­tive busi­ness own­ers who have con­tin­ued with the pro­gram to banks for po­ten­tial loan op­por­tu­ni­ties, said Daw Hnin Wai, gen­eral sec­re­tary at the Myan­mar Women En­tre­pre­neur’s As­so­ci­a­tion.
