Fire de­stroys homes and shops in Hlaing Thar­yar

Six houses and eight stalls burned down in Hlaing Thar­yar on Septem­ber 8 af­ter a small fire spread to an area where plas­tic, gas and matches were stored for sale. The blaze was re­port­edly caused by an over­loaded elec­tri­cal board, with staff from a gro­cery sop hav­ing con­nected a tem­po­rary wire for their fan at night. The fire in the Ngwe Chin Thei (Sil­ver Lion) shop on Bo Aung Kyaw Street be­gan around 4:55am. Dam­ages were es­ti­mated at around K700,000. A team of around 34 fire­fight­ers at­tended the scene. Hlaing Thar­yar po­lice have opened a case un­der Sec­tion 285. –
